The Edgewood Athletic Hall of Fame Committee is excited to announce the three new inductees to the Edgewood Hall of Fame.
Tracy Hawkins class of 1987. Tracy excelled as a 3 sport athlete at Edgewood High School, participating in Volleyball, Basketball, and Softball.
Volleyball: Tracy was first team MML in Volleyball in 1985 and 1986 and was also selected and named Team MVP in 1985 and 1986.
Basketball: Tracy was a varsity player for 3 three years. During her senior year, the girls basketball team placed 2nd in the MML, were Sectional Champs, and District Finalist.
Softball: Tracy was MML Honorable Mention her sophomore year. During her junior year, Tracy was 1st team MML, Team MVP, with a batting average of .500, with 5 home runs. Tracy finished her senior as 1st team MML, Team MVP, the Softball team was Co-Champs of the MML, and she had a batting average of .492.
After graduating from Edgewood High School, Tracy took her softball talent to Wright State University. Tracy was a four year starter on the Wright State Softball team and still holds many records for the WSU softball program. In 2008, Tracy was inducted into the WSU Softball Hall of Fame.
David White class of 2000. David excelled on the football field. During his junior and senior year, David helped lead his teams to a 23-3 record.
Football: 1998 David was 1st team MML, All Butler County, All Southwest Ohio, 2nd Team All State, and MML Offensive Player of the Year. During the 1998 season, David rushed for 1787 yards, setting the single season rushing record for Edgewood, which still stands today. In 1999, David was 1st team MML, 1st Team All Butler County, 1st Team All Southwest Ohio, 2nd Team All State, MML Offensive Player of the Year, and Cincinnati Enquirer Offensive Player of the Year. During his senior year, David rushed for 1572 yards, 3rd most in a single season and led the Edgewood Football team to their first 10-0 season. David finished his career with 3725 rushing yards, 2nd all time, and 51 touchdowns, 3rd all time.
John Thomas Class of 1975. Coach Thomas was the head coach of Edgewood basketball from 2003-2010, and returned in 2015 until 2020
Coach Thomas was the head men’s basketball coach for 13 years at Edgewood. During those 13 years Coach Thomas compiled a record of 138 wins. Coach Thomas is the longest tenure coach of Edgewood Men’s Basketball and has the most wins. Coach Thomas’ 2006 team won Edgewood’s first league title in school history going 10-0 in the league and finishing the season with an overall record of 17-4. Coach Thomas was FAVC Coach of the Year in 2007 and 2009 and was SWOC Coach of the Year in 2020. Coach Thomas was also SW District Coach of the year in 2020, Butler County Coach of the Year in 2007, and Middletown Coach of the Year in 2007.
During his tenure at Edgewood City Schools, Coach Thomas has worn many different hats. He has been a school board member, president of the school board, Public Relations/Grant Writer, Athletic Director, Business Manager, and basketball coach.
